Welcome Tiff on Your First Day!

We are happy to welcome Tiffany Vidra as the new full-time Director of Youth & Children’s Ministry at Summerfield-Siloam United Methodist Church. Tiff grew up in Fishtown, and came to faith through the ministries of Summerfield Church. As a member of the church she has several years’ experience as a youth and children’s leader, and she also plays drums in the Summerfield band. She has participated in ministry and leadership training and experience through the summer programs of Camp Sandy Cove. In 2015 Tiff organized the Fishtown neighborhood-wide scavenger hunt.

Having lived for a few years in Port Richmond, she is currently an East Kensington resident. Tiff was previously employed in the Vacant Land Project of the New Kensington Community Development Corporation (NKCDC).

Ministry Partners: Jim & Jennifer Snider of Cast Your Cares

Jim & Jennifer Snider direct Cast Your Cares at 2438 Kensington Avenue right here in Philadelphia. Their ministry reaches out to the hungry, the homeless, and the addicted.

Cast Your Cares is one of the largest distributors of food assistance in the city. They also regularly sponsor picnic dinners and are in the process of renovating an indoor space that will allow them to expand this ministry during bad weather. They have also provided emergency traveler assistance, helped individuals get into long-term addiction recovery programs, and demonstrated the love of God in a large number of other ways.

For more information on the ministry of Cast Your Cares, see castyourcares.com/

Jim & Jennifer Snider and “Cast Your Cares” are “supported partners” meaning Summerfield supplies financial assistance to their independent ministry.

Discussion Relating to the Youth Director Position

It seems there may be a little confusion on something and I want to clear it up. I have shared with some of you what Charlie (in his role as Staff-Parish Relations Chair), Bob (in his roles as Lay Leader and Administrative Board Chair), and I (in my role as Pastor) were recommending regarding the Youth Leader position when Angela leaves. Please understand that this was not intended to be a final word, bur rather a place for discussion and input to begin. Ultimately this decision will be made by the congregation as a whole.
